Muzzle Training

Muzzle Training1

Safe & Positive Muzzle Use
Once viewed negatively, muzzles are now recognized as a responsible way to protect dogs and others. Use simple techniques rather than force to help your dog accept a muzzle.

Muzzle Training2

Lure with Food
First, let the dog see the muzzle alongside peanut butter or a tasty treat. Then smear a little peanut butter inside the muzzle so they can stick their nose in and lick. You can also pass treats through the front opening.

Muzzle Training3

Positive Distraction
Distract & BuckleOnce the dog seems okay with the muzzle, fasten the strap behind their head. If they try to paw it off, immediately go for a walk or engage in a fun activity to distract them.

Muzzle Training4

Comfortable & Confident
If wearing a muzzle is linked to treats, walks, and other positive experiences, most dogs accept it quickly. Soon, you’ll feel more confident taking them out, knowing everyone’s safer.
