Managing Territorial Marking
Dogs often stake out “their spot” with urine. While total elimination can be tough, you can reduce it significantly.

Consistent Cleanup
Frequently take your dog out to pee and clean up messes right away. Don’t let the dog return to these spots, or play/feed them there.

Interrupt and Redirect
Watch your dog at all times. If you catch them about to mark, say “No!” firmly and take them outside. Punishing after the fact only confuses them.

Remove Temptations
Remove items that could tempt them, like guests’ belongings or new purchases.

Facing Persistent Marking
If your dog has marked for a long time, it’s a deeply ingrained habit and may not improve much even after neutering—especially if multiple dogs are competing.
