When walking on a sidewalk, teach your dog to stay beside you without pulling toward the street.

On the sidewalk, walk closer to the road while your dog stays on the inside.
If you step off the curb onto the street, the dog may follow automatically.
Guiding Back
If the dog tries to step into the street, gently nudge them back onto the sidewalk with your foot. Move slowly.
If you need to do this often, use a shorter leash for better control.
