If your dog trembles, clings to your leg, or barks at other dogs, you can teach them to become friends instead of foes.

Parallel Walks
Walk two dogs together—this forms a mini “pack,” avoiding forced direct contact at first.
Sit between the two dogs and engage them with a squeaky toy, so they share space but don’t focus on each other.

Shared Treat Time
Place two treats on the ground, one for each dog, so they can eat side by side. This reduces fear while they’re near a new friend. Avoid jealousy by offering treats simultaneously.

Is your dog tense? Distract them by playing or talking to them, then introduce the new pal.

Building New Friendships
The smoother each new meeting, the easier it will be for your dog to make more dog friends. Don’t force them—let them know they have a safe retreat if needed.
