Car Rides

Car Rides1

Safe Car Travel
All dogs should learn how to ride in a car. For everyone’s safety, keep your dog in a crate or secured with a leash and seat belt attachment.

Car Rides2

Secure the Leash
Put a leash on your dog, making sure they can’t slip out by backing up.
Clip the leash to the seat belt for added security.

Move the Crate into the Car
You can also bring the dog’s crate into the car. Offer a squeaky toy, a chew toy, or a Kong stuffed with peanut butter to keep them busy.

Gentle Loading
If you need to lift your dog into the car, support them from shoulders to tail, avoiding pressure on their chest or belly.
For the first session, just practice getting in and out of the car without driving. Keep it low-stress and stop before your dog feels uneasy.
