Value the Leash
The leash connects you to your dog and is also a communication tool.
You must value it, and you should also know that suddenly pulling the leash is equivalent to a punishment for the dog.

Establish Positive Association
When your dog is eating, show them the leash at a moment they’re distracted. Place it on the floor. Let the leash and food appear together so the dog has a good association with it.

Overcoming Fear
Some dogs might freeze when they see the leash. In that case, use a tasty treat to encourage them to walk a few steps. Once they do, reward them by taking them outside for a walk.

Distract, Don’t Unclip
After fastening the leash, if the dog resists, distract them with treats, play, or a walk. Don’t unclip the leash if they struggle; otherwise, they’ll learn resistance lets them escape it.

Patience Pays Off
Most dogs adapt quickly to wearing a leash. If yours is an exception and keeps fighting it, don’t worry—it usually only lasts a few minutes, and it should improve over a few days.
