- Rat poison/Insecticides (including mosquito repellents)
- Xylitol: A toxic sweetener found in many products, such as sugar-free gum, certain peanut butter brands, and toothpaste
- Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (e.g., ibuprofen, naproxen): Can cause vomiting, ulcers, and kidney failure in dogs
- Grapes and raisins: May lead to kidney failure
- Household cleaners: Some concentrated products, such as toilet, oven, and drain cleaners, can cause chemical burns if licked by dogs
- Acetaminophen (Tylenol): Highly toxic and can cause irreversible liver damage
- Fertilizers: Be extremely cautious; avoid letting dogs walk on recently fertilized lawns or lick their paws afterward
- Mushrooms: Certain types found in yards can be extremely toxic—even fatal—to dogs
- Corn cobs: May cause intestinal blockage
