Redirecting Puppy Biting
Puppies love to mouth everything when teething, including your fingers, nose, and ears. Show them gently that this is not okay.
Manage Hardness
You can manage how hard they bite. If they bite too hard, say “Ow! That hurts—I’m not playing anymore,” then turn away from them.
Stop for a While
After about 10 seconds, turn back and resume play. Repeat this process as needed.
Puppies Can Learn
Puppies crave attention. Once they learn biting too hard makes you stop playing, they’ll start biting more softly.
