Fear of Slippery Floors

Fear of Slippery Floors1

Conquering Slippery Surfaces
Does your dog avoid stepping into the kitchen? Do they refuse to walk on tiled or linoleum floors at the vet’s office? You can help them conquer this fear.

Fear of Slippery Floors2

Baby Steps with a Bowl
Put a piece of kibble in a dog bowl and place it near the edge of the slippery floor, prompting your dog to retrieve it.

Fear of Slippery Floors3

Building Floor Confidence
Lay a bath towel like a path leading to the bowl, and walk beside your dog as they cross it.
Gradually move the towels apart so your dog must step on more of the slippery floor. Use an excited tone to cheer them on.

Quick Adaptation
Most dogs learn to walk on slick floors within a day or two after using these methods.
