Stopping Destructive Chewing
Some dogs destroy shoes, furniture, or other items. This training helps correct those destructive tendencies.
If your dog chews shoes or furniture, show them what’s allowed instead of punishing or chasing them.

Protect Shoes, Train Drop It
Store shoes out of reach. If the dog grabs a shoe, don’t chase—it becomes a fun game for them. Instead, say “No” and “Drop it.”

Offering Alternatives
Swap the shoe for something more appealing, like a chew toy, and say, “Good job!”
If your dog loves to gnaw, give them sturdy chew objects (rubber or leather).

Wintergreen Oil
To prevent furniture chewing, coat surfaces with wintergreen oil—an organic, strong-smelling deterrent.

Eliminating Destructive Chewing
Dogs chew for two main reasons: fun or anxiety. Puppies usually grow out of it, but regardless of age, giving them proper chew toys can break the habit for good.
