Polite Mealtime Behavior
It’s never too late to teach good manners. Before feeding your dog, have them sit politely.

Sit and Wait
Prepare treats out of your dog’s reach and tell them “Sit.” The dog may be excited. Give them a few chances to sit properly.
You can guide their head up and back with the food bowl to encourage a sit.

Pausing to Restart
If they won’t sit, turn away and hold the bowl out of reach for a minute. After that minute, try again.

Encourage Sit
As soon as the dog sits, even if only for a second, say “Good job!” and place the bowl on the floor.

Habitual Politeness
Your dog will form a habit of politely sitting before each meal instead of demanding food in an unruly way.
